What is Goodstack's verification process?

Goodstack's verification process includes three due diligence checks to confirm that an organization meets Goodstack's nonprofit definitions, and is compliant and eligible to receive employee giving contributions:

Verifying nonprofit status

• Before an organization can be nominated for support activity within a employee giving program, we verify that it meets all three of the requirements below:

  1. The organization must be officially recognized as a charitable or nonprofit organization by their local regulator based in the country where they are registered.

  2. The organization must operate without the purpose of generating profit for private individuals or shareholders. Its structure, activities, and use of funds should reflect a not-for-profit model.

  3. The organization must serve a broader charitable, social, or community purpose. This means its work should provide a clear public benefit rather than support private interests.
     

Confirming compliance

• We verify that the organization is in good standing with its regulator. This may include confirming that it remains properly registered, active, and compliant with relevant filing or governance requirements.

Determining eligibility

• Your company may have its own eligibility guidelines that organizations must meet to receive contributions through its workplace giving program. These guidelines can vary from company to company and may reflect internal policies, program goals, geographic restrictions, or the types of causes the company chooses to support.

  While an organization may meet our nonprofit verification requirements and be confirmed as compliant, that does not automatically guarantee eligibility for every program.
